Spring Butterflies

This card is a perfect example of taking a couple of fairly simple stamps and making something absolutely beautiful with them.  Kathie used our Cloisonne Butterfly images (cloisonne is a form of enamelware – often used on beads and other jewelry) which are great for layering and coloring.   She used stickles to “glitterize” the butterflies.  You can buy these images individually, 607D and 606D or as a set of two stamps 608G.  She also used 012G Lace Corner to create a lovely border for her card, which ties in perfectly with the lacy butterflies and the elegant die cut border of her layer.

Love Stinks!

We had so much fun coming up with phrases to go with the little Skunk in our spring line of stamps.   But when it came down to choosing, I had to go with “Scent with Love” as being a bit more usable for making cards than “Love Stinks” (though don’t count it out for later releases!).   Both the Skunk and Scent With Love come in cling set 1203QCL.  Lynda Benden created the card below and after adding a bit of extra black with a prismacolor pencil she covered the whole skunk with white flocking (it’s hard to see this in the photo).  She also added little rhinestones to the flowers and around the scalloped edge of the card.

Scent With Love

When the SS Design Team’s Jennifer Woodward posted her adorable little Skunk card, she mentioned Pepe LePew.   How many of you remember Pepe?   I know, I know, we’re dating ourselves.   Well, if he’s a little fuzzy in your mind, try googling him.   There’s even a website of Pepe LePew’s quotes!   Oh it with make you laugh – my favorite was “You are ze corned beef to me, and I am ze cabbage to you” but there are so many more!  Thank you Jennifer for reminding us all of the most romantic little guy in cartoon land!   Jennifer’s card below uses both of the stamps from the 1203QCL Skunk cling set.   I love the combination of the soft colors and the pearl accents…

Feeling Chipper?

Our new line of spring stamps includes this adorable Chipmunk and the perfect phrase to go along with him – “Hope You’re Feeling Chipper Soon!”   These two stamps come packaged together in the cling set 1201QCL.   The card below, created by Kathie Bailey, is perfect to send to anyone feeling under the weather – whether they’ve got the flu or literally “under the weather” with 2 feet of snow!

Let Sleeping Bunnies Be

We have a bit of a twisted history with the Easter Bunny in our family.   My husband is a hunter – and bunnies are sometimes on his list of prey (but usually only as a last resort – if he just can’t find anything else to shoot, squirrels fall into a similar category).   ANYWAY – as the girls run around the yard hunting eggs, my husband yells threats that he’ll shoot that Easter Bunny for hiding all of the eggs we worked so hard dying!   But no one, not even my husband, would shoot a bunny as adorable as this little guy.   The Sleeping Bunny Cling Set – 983QCL includes a lovely Laura Ingalls Wilder quote.   Or you can get the same stamp individually – 983E – Sleeping Bunny.  As you can see, this stamp would be great for baby cards as well as Easter cards.

The card below was made by Lynda Benden.

The card below was made by Carolyn Hurst.  She also used 706D Happy Easter and if you look closely at the background you’ll shadow stamping of butterflies and Easter Eggs.

I recently added the new spring line of stamps to the our shopping website – www.serendipitystamps.com.   To see them all just go to the New Stamps section.  To give you a little inspiration I’ve included two adorable cards created by the Serendipity Stamps Design Team.  Both of these cards were created using our new adorable Skunk – 1203G, which you can purchase as an individual stamp or as the cling set 1203QCL.    The set comes with both the skunk and the word stamp Scent With Love – 1204D

The first card was created by Kathie Bailey – wouldn’t this make a great Valentine’s Day card?.

Bird Feet

We have a little wooden table on our front porch – it’s where I set my wine glass in the evenings during the summer when I have a moment to sit out there and watch my garden grow.   Nothing growing in the garden now!   But the other day my daughter took this picture of little bird prints in a dusting of snow on the table.   Hopefully the little bird found a stray sunflower seed while stomping around on my table.  Below the photo are two cards to remind you that bird stamps are not just for Christmas!   Those little guys need to be seen all year round!

Autumn Birdhouse

I am so behind in posting the gorgeous cards that the Serendipity Stamps Design Team and customers send to me!   So for a couple of days I’m just going to post cards, no blab about my life, my garden, my kids, fishing, hunting – just cards!   Enjoy!

This card was made by Holly Craft – who is well named!   She even has articles in magazines about making cookies, and felted bags – and I’m sure many other things that I’ve missed.  Check out Holly’s blog to see more of her cards and other hobbies.   This card was made using 1179H – Autumn Birdhouse, 1180E – Music Is, 1179QCL – Autumn Birdhouse Cling Set, 642C – Maple Small, 904X – Giant Maple Punch.

Leafy Pets

I’m getting ready to head out for a weekend in the Missouri Ozarks – trout fishing with my husband – woo hoo!  Actually, he’ll fish and I’ll read and knit (woo hoo!  that one wasn’t sarcastic).  We’ll have 6 hours of quiet driving time and several blissful meals with no teenagers around!  WOO HOO!  What does this have to do with “leafy pets”?  Nothing, except Opal was rolling in the leaves this morning, totally ignorant of the fact that she was going to be stuck in the kennel all weekend and it reminded me of this cute card Cindy Malone sent me last week.  She used Leaf Pets 1024QCL (cling set) or 1024G (individual image).  Cindy’s blog is http://www.discoverstamping.blogspot.com/ - if her name looks familiar it’s because she won our Customer Halloween Challenge last week!

Remember – this month’s is Customer Challenge is a Christmas Ornament or Gift.  Just email your project, made with Serendipity Stamps, to serendipity@serendipitystamps.com by November 11th and you’ll have a chance to win our random drawing for a $20 gift certificate to Serendipity Stamps.

Family Traditions

Note – only a couple days left for our Customer Halloween Challenge.    Send your Halloween card to serendipity@serendipitystamps.com  by Oct 15th and I’ll enter you in our drawing for a $20 Serendipity Gift Certificate!

Each year, two of my daughters and my husband drive to my in-laws’ farm where family and friends gather for deer season to hunt, enjoy my mother-in-law’s cooking, and to sit around and share stories.  These girls are in high school now, having their hair done for homecoming dances and learning to walk in high heels.  But, they still look forward to that weekend in November when they get to spend time with their Grandpa and Uncles, show off their shooting skills, fill our freezer with meat, and still find time to touch up their nails before they come back home.  The card below is a perfect example of how Lynda Benden’s work can just take your breath away.  Her simple, clean, stamping technique, with subtle, but meticulous detail,  shows off this beautiful stamp – 116L Buck or 116QCL Buck Cling Set
