Over the River
and through the woods, to Grandmother’s house we go….The song holds true in our family. I haven’t cooked a Thanksgiving dinner in 18 years! Each year we pack up and drive 4 hours across the state (yes, over the Missouri River and there are some woods along the way too) to stay with my family for Thanksgiving weekend. All I have to bring is pumpkin pie. The bad part of all this is that I don’t end up with any leftover turkey. Yes – that’s a bad thing! A little bit of leftover turkey is great – turkey sandwiches, turkey divan (or as we call it – turkey sofa), and turkey and rice soup. I suppose I could cook a turkey myself, for just us – but then there’d be more than a little bit of leftover turkey – and that’s not such a good thing. Today is Thanksgiving Day in Canada (thanks Jennifer Woodward – SS DT member – for reminding me!) so I’m a bit late for that, but Sue Eldred’s fun Thanksgiving Invitation made with our 1181E – Over The River image should provide lots of inspiration for not only invites, but napkin rings, place cards, and stamped napkins! Go all out this year – and send me some leftover turkey would ya?
