Coneflowers
I noticed today that the coneflowers in front of my porch are just blooming. It reminded me that folks who don’t live as close to the prairie may not be familiar with the lowly Coneflower (also known as Echinacea). It’s a “native prairie” flower and they can put up with any heat or drought. The center is very hard a bristly, a “cone”, and as the flower matures the petals droop down more and more.
